De-urbanize to sustainable rural development areas, including collectivize green communes with the remaining cities with substantially reduce population (at least 30% reduction) transformed into green urban settlements promoting local sustainable systems such as: a) home/community organic gardening, b) bike commuting, c) micro renewable energy systems (solar, wing, hydro, biogas, others), d) rain water collection, and others similar systems of sustainability driven by green lifestyle options including plant-based diets at the level of the household and local communities.
We NEED actions towards Greening Human Settlements by moving emphasis and state resources away from urbanization in favor of state subsidized & supported green communes in the rural areas where alternative low carbon, green sustainable living and local green economic and cultural systems may be tested out, starting with communities already affected by the impacts of climate change that will be voluntarily resettled in these communes. For those not yet ready or who will not shift into these settlements, a variety of urban greening efforts will be conducted; such as:
