April 19, 2023. Isang taon na po mula noong mabaril ang mga miyembro ng komunidad ng Manobo Pulangihon, kasama na kaming mga naging kandidato sa alyansa ng PLM - Partido Lakas ng Masa at mga Makakalikasang mga grupo, kasama na ang Makakalikasan-Nature Party PH noong nakaraang pambansang eleksyon ng Mayo 2022 ng mga security force ng Kiantig Development Corporation (KDC).

Maaalala ninyong mapayapa naming sinamahan ang mga sa Butong, Quezon, Bukidnon ang tribuong nito sa kanilang naging desisyon na na muli ng i-ukupa ang lupang ninuno nila na ayaw ibalik sa kanila ng KDC.

MAKAKALIKASAN (Nature Party Philippines) finds the Duterter administration a FAILURE in pursuing the GREEN AGENDA to benefit the environment and the Filipino people.

Based on our assessment of the performance and achievements of the Duterte Administration from 2016-2021 using our 15-point Green Agenda and our cross-cutting commitments to equity, especially for the vulnerable "peoples" and sectors of our society, promotion-respect-protection of Human Rights, good governance against graft & corruption and  peace & development, we find the Duterte government actions and policies insufficient in confronting our climate and environment emergencies.

While we recognize some gains towards our shift to renewable energy, organic agriculture and a modest gain in our reforestation targets. However, this is seriously negated with the total turn around on our ban on open pit mining and the moratorium on new mining projects. Also, the heavy new borrowings that have ballooned our national debt to 11.07T PhP in the long run will weaken our capacity to achieve sustainable development. The Duterte administration also seriously failed  in protecting our national patrimony especially in the West Philippine Seas. 

It is expectedly difficult for us Greens to celebrate this day. The Government lauds the increase on the number of PROTECTED AREAS and high profile but shallow, palliative "success" in habitat conservation in Boracay, Manila Bay. On the other hand, the UN CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity) lauds the recent agreement on "mainstreaming biodiversity actions" that opens up critical biodiversity areas to private sector control and the so called "whole government approach".

MAKAKALIKASAN (Nature Party Philippines) reiterates the importance of women empowerment and gender equality for its own merit and because protected & empowered women and LGBTQ+ individuals and a stronger community with no discrimination and no Gender-Based Violence (GBV) or other forms of violence, for the matter, do improve environmental protection, rehabilitation and conservation and can lead to a more just and sustainable society.

​While not always recognized, women play a crucial part in ensuring that fragile ecosystems are protected, families are able to survive natural disasters, and natural resources are managed in a fair, efficient and sustainable way. Although women have proven their skills in managing natural resources and adapting to climate change, their contributions are often taken for granted or not valued.
